Hva er fotballkortet verdt?

What is the value of the football card ?

I'm going to try to take you through a little exercise to try to figure out the value of a football card.

1. Check what the card is actually selling for

Not just what people want to get – but what is being sold .

  • Search eBay → “Sold items / Completed sales”
  • Look for:
    • Same player
    • Same set/year
    • Same Variant (base, parallel, autograph, etc.)
    • Same condition
  • Ex. Search for Christiano Ronaldo #169 World Cup 2006, scroll down the page and check "Sold items" under "Show Only". Then you will find all the cards of him from the World Cup 2006 set that have been sold

You can also go to 130point , enter the same search text, and see prices for cards sold.

👉 This gives you an indication of market prices , not fantasy prices.

2. Assess the condition of the card (very important)

Small details can make big price differences.

Look for:

  • Sharp corners
  • No scratches or print lines
  • Good centering
  • Clean surface

Grading:

  • PSA 10 can be 2–10× more than raw

3. Player status

The prize follows the player – not just the card.

High value:

  • Stars (CR7, Mbappé, Haaland, Messi)
  • Young talents (“Rookies”, Estevao, Rio, Lennart Karl)
  • Players in form/after major tournaments

Lower value:

  • Rotational players
  • Retirees without icon status
  • Minor league players

📈 Timing matters a lot (World Cup, European Championship, transfer rumors).

4. Card type and rarity

Not all cards are the same – even from the same player.

Card type Effect on price
Base Low–medium
Insert Medium
Numbered (/99, /25) High
Autograph High
Patch/Relic Varies
Case here Often high

5. Manufacturer and set

Some brands have stronger collector value:

  • Topps (Chrome, Merlin, Stadium Club)
  • Panini (Prizm, Select, Donruss)

Premium sets = higher price, even for the same player.

6. Where will you sell?

Price should be adapted to the platform.

  • Goldin → market price (auction vs fixed price) (often high end cards)
  • Finn.no / Facebook groups → often slightly lower
  • Card shows / fairs → room for negotiation
  • Private collector → can give top price for the right cards

No matter where, there will be variables like above, which player, etc. that can come into play.

7. A simple rule of thumb

  1. Find latest sales (eBay sold)
  2. Adjust for:
    • Condition (better/worse)
    • Rarity
    • Player form
  3. Start:
    • 10% above the fixed price
    • Auction from a low price if you want to sell quickly

All in all, the price you sell a card for is based on what you are happy with. Of course, it will always be "the most possible", but by following the list here you will at least be able to get an idea of what a card goes for. So, "avoid" selling a card for, for example, 200kr and then 2 weeks later, finding out that it was worth 800kr. Or conversely, avoid posting a card that you think is gold, but then it is not worth as much as you think. Remember, all that glitters is not gold.
